Scoop Clarifies Statement On AKA, Cassper And Kwesta

Recently, radio host and a veteran in the music industry Scoop Makhathini asked musos Kwesta, AKA and Cassper Nyovest to take a break from music.

His call had elicited an instant response from Cassper Nyovest and AKA, as well as their fans. Some fans thought the radio host had no idea what he was saying. Others assumed he has exaggerated his powers of vision.

The topic was so heated that it trended briefly on South African Twitter. Looking back, it might appear Scoop Makhathini’s position was misunderstood.  At least he stated that much, and has chosen to clarify what he meant.

According to him, calling on the C Kwesta, AKA and Cassper Nyovest, whom he calls friends, to take a break from music in no way implies they should stop recording. They might continue recording but should put a plug on releases.

They need a break to reinvent themselves, reevaluate and reengage. The allure of Instagram and the ease with which one gets validation there might blind some artistes to the fact that they are not pushing themselves hard enough; they become formulaic and routine.

Well, what do you think of Scoop’s clarification? We should love to hear them in the comment section below.
