Senzo Meyiwa Murder: More Poses Over Kelly Khumalo

The legal battle continues in court in the Senzo Meyiwa trial, and most eyes are on Kelly Khumalo.

The singer was a girlfriend to Senzo at the time he was killed in her mother’s apartment in Vosloorus, Gauteng. So far, she has maintained her innocence. But the defence thinks she was actually the one who pulled the trigger on the gun that killed Senzo in 2014.

There is a second docket in the Senzo Meyiwa case, which recommends that Kelly Khumalo should be prosecuted alongside two relatives.

According to advocate Zandile Mshololo, who’s representing the fifth accused in the murder case, Fisokuhle Ntuli, the second docket, presented by advocate Andrew Chauke, the Gauteng head of the National Prosecuting Authority, back in 2019, recommended seven persons for prosecution for Senzo’s. One of those recommended was Kelly Khumalo.

She’s unimpressed that Kelly Khumalo’s name was dropped among those to be prosecuted. And even if the name was to be dropped, there was a proper way to go about it — but it wasn’t followed.

The Senzo Meyiwa case has taken many hues since it was first initiated. At some point, it was claimed the goalie was shot in a robbery, which has since been disproved.
