Senzo Meyiwa: New Lawyer Demands Quashing Of Evidence Relating To Kelly Khumalo

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial resumed with new drama on Tuesday, with disbarred advocate Maleseal Teffo storming the court and demanding to speak with the presiding judge in private because what he had to say cannot be revealed in the open court.

Also, Advocate Charles Mnisi, the lawyer for one of the accused was on the ground, to demand that the claims that Kelly Khumalo had accidentally shot and killed Senzo Meyiwa during a scuffle with Longwe Twala be expunged.

Earlier in the trial, when Adv. Malesela Teffo was representing four of the accused, he had noted he would bring a witness who would testify that Kelly Khumalo had in fact accidentally shot her boyfriend during a scuffle with Longwe.

Also, JJ Thobane, another advocate who had taken over much later, had toed the same line that a witness would be brought to testify about the accidental shooting of the former Bafana Bafana goalie.

Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead at the home of his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in 2014 in what was alleged to be a botched robbery. The case remained unsolved to this day. With several postponements in the trial, many are beginning to doubt that the killers would eventually be found and prosecuted.
