#SenzoMeyiwaTrial: Longwe Twala’s Name Pops Again

It is not yet uhuru for suspects in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case, especially for Longwe Twala, whose name has surfaced again in the murder trial.

Yesterday, when the trial resumed, Meyiwa’s childhood friend Tumelo Madlala returned to the witness stand, where he was cross-examined. Tumelo was present when the Orlando Pirates goalie was assassinated in his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s Vosloorus family home.

The Bafana Bafan goalkeeper was visiting Kelly Khumalo at her mother’s house when the incident occurred, cutting short his football career. At the time, it was alleged that the footballer was a victim of a robbery gone wrong.

The case had dragged on since that day, with closure not exactly in sight for the soccer champ’s family. Senzo’s father fought for justice until his death. With the teil back at its source, South Africans are watching to see what comes out of it.

Four men are standing trial for the murder of Senzo.

During cross-examination, Tumelo noted that Longwe Twala was not with a firearm but ran away in that night of terror and blood. After an extensive examination, the court closed and will resume hearing the case today, Tuesday, November 15. It’s unclear how things will play out in court today.
