A pall of sadness has enveloped the music industry in South Africa following the death of Sfiso Dladla of the gospel group iThemba. The songster died yesterday 24 March 2021.
Sfiso Dladla was reportedly shot multiple times and seriously injured by some thugs in 14 March after he, alongside other residents, confronted them in the Umlazi area of Durban.
Condolences have been pouring in from South Africa since the news of his death broke. MEC of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Hlengiwe Mavimbela stated that Sfiso Dladla’s death has left a dent in the gospel music industry.
Hlengiwe Mavimbela also extended his condolences to the family of the deceased. She confessed she had hoped the gospel minister would make it when she heard he was shot and in ICU (in an undisclosed hospital).
The news of his passing shocked not jus her but those who have come to love Sfiso Dladla as a person and as a musician. He’ll be sorely missed for his contributions to South Africa’s gospel music space. Thou sshouldst be living at this hour, Sfiso Dladla.
