Shimza Call Out Artists For Taking Government Fund But Refuse To Support

Shimza has never hidden his political affiliations, but the songster is unimpressed some artists should be funded by the government and yet remain silent when the government is being bashed for not funding South African artists.

He made this known in a recent tweet which you can check out below.

In the heat of the coronavirus pandemic last year, many artists had openly condemned the government for not supporting artists. In fact, so heavy was the heat that “Dance Comigo” singer Kelly Khumalo had denounced the minister of arts and culture for not caring about the welfare of artists.

In one of her posts back then, she had suggested artists move in with the minister since he wouldn’t understand most of them were deprived as a result of the pandemic, and suffering.

By the way, Shimza himself had been criticized for his affiliation with the government, with many insisting that he recently got a government cooking contract because he has insiders in government.

In case you missed it, Shimza recently noted that South African hip-hop is dead. He made that statement amid the ongoing debate on the state of hip-hop in the Rainbow Nation and while leading a house and afro-tech renaissance, code-named “Kunye Live Mix.”
