Shimza, Thando Thabethe, DJ Fresh and more join the #LightSAred campaign to protest the ban on social spaces and events.
The Coronavirus pandemic has caused so much pain in the world and also in Mzansi. A lot of artists have been left without sources of income following the ban on social gatherings and events. Most of these artists rely on gigs to survive.
On Wednesday, August 5 2020, several red-filtered images flooded social media. Many mistook them to be promotional images for artists. However, when it gained traction on Thursday, August 6, it was finally deduced to be a campaign against the ban on social spaces and event shows.
Some of the big names to join the #LightSAred campaign include Shimza, Thando Thabethe, DJ Fresh, Shekhinah, DJ Maphorisa and more. Since the ban was announced, a lot of artists have been unable to make an income in 5 months. Hopefully, this makes a change.
