Since the 21-nationwide lockdown began, people have been spending more time on social media and because of this, the Twitter scene has become extra volatile.
The Twitter scene is always abuzz with new stories and clap backs. One minute, Twitter users are supporting a celebrity and the next, they are ridiculing the celebrity.
South African disc jockey, DJ Ceega Wa Meropa, learnt this the hard way when trolls clapped back at him after discovering that he has money. They rebuked him for deceiving them into thinking he was a broke upcoming DJ that needs money.
Their initial impression about him caused South Africans to troll DJ Shimza after he rudely responded to Ceega that he won’t be a part of his virtual lockdown sessions that have been thrilling music lovers who have got no opportunity to party during the lockdown.
South Africans were determined to ensure that Shimza gets cancelled. Because of this, the hashtag #ShimzaMust Fall trended on Twitter for a while.
The tables turned recently when Twitter users found out that Ceega might not be as broke as they had imagined. He might have even made over a million rand from his December gigs alone.
The DJ also displayed two branded luxury vehicles and some deposits made into his bank which will amount of tens to thousands.
Ceega took to his Facebook timeline to gush about his wealth. This got Tweeps in shock as they realized that they might have been fighting for someone who is actually not broke.
The Twitter scene was immediately filled with the hashtag #CeegaMustFall and it started to trend.

The Durban-based DJ, Ceega, tried to defend himself by explaining that he has bills to settle just like everyone else.
Ceega said:
No guys. I’m not rich and I didn’t play with you. That’s why I was asking for a slot to get more bookings to pay for these cars and other personal items.
These cars belong to the banks and I have to pay instalments. I’m just a simple guy who’s working hard and is passionate. I didn’t play you at all.
