Sjava Withdraws From The Standard Bank Luju Festival

About two weeks back, across social media, calls reverberated for musicians to boycott the Standard Bank Luju Festival in solidarity with the Swazi people, who are reportedly being oppressed by their government.

Mzansi rapper and BET Awards winner Sjava is one muso who appears to have hearkened to the call. He’s withdrawing from the festival in solidarity.

On his social media channels, the songster has not said anything about withdrawing from the festival. However, Bonginkosi IB Dlamini, the convenor of the United Eswatini Diaspora(UED), has stated that Sjava has confirmed that he wouldn’t be performing at the festival.

The former Ambitiouz Entertainment artiste was one of the musicians who were co-opted to perform at the show.

Dlamini thanked Sjava for his decision not to perform at the festival and to stand in solidarity with the eSwatini, who are being killed.

Sjava’s decision to pull out of the festival has received massive support from social media users, with many of them applauding him for his courage.

He may have ditched the eSwatini festival, but he’ll be attend a similar event in Mzansi, hosted by the Amstel malt brand. He’d shared a picture of the event in a post to his Instagram channel exactly one hour ago today, November 26, 2021.
