Somizi has apologized to the amapiano genre as well as its practitioners for not having treated the genre right at the outset.
The media personality was one of those who had thought amapiano a passing fad and imagined the genre would vanish one day.
Well, amapiano has refused to go – contrary to what the former Idols SA judge had hoped and predicted. Instead, the genre is now the in-thing in South Africa, snapping devotees from other genres into its orbit.
And one of those the genre has charmed and won over is, wait for it, Somizi himself.
In a recent post to Instagram, the songster had shared a clip of him vibing to Young Stunna and DJ Maphorisa’s Adiwele” song. He praised the genre for its lyrical and artistic merits. You can check out his post below.
His post provoked laughter among some of his fans. Even DJ Maphorisa was in the comments with a question.
By the way, Somizi recently lost his position as one of the judges of reality show Idols SA when an audio, in which his estranged husband Mohale claimed he a used him, leaked online. The ratings of the show had plummeted when it was revealed he won’t be returning as a judge.
