South Africa’s Amended Electoral Bill Ignites Bonang’s Political Ambitions

Media personality and entrepreneur Bonang Matheba has been focused on her business for a long time, but it appears she had political ambitions all along and was just waiting for the best time to make a foray into the country’s political universe. This much became apparent recently following the amendment of the country’s electoral bill.

With the amendment, independent candidates can now stand for election without belonging to any of the political parties out there. This is something many South Africans have always wanted but never got to witness. With President Ramaphosa’s decision, now, even more people can participate.

Bonang had shared a tweet of the amendment, teasing she might run for the presidency of South Africa. While she isn’t known to be a politician, she has been following events in the country with keen interest and occasionally drops her thoughts on them. For instance, she was known to be a critic of the former sports and arts minister Nathi Mthethwa. You can check out the tweet she shared below.

Well, it will be interesting to see whether Bonang will eventually take the leap into the orbit of politics and what impact she will make in her potential quest for the country’s top job
