Spider-Verse Sequel Postponed to June 2023

For fans of Spider-Verse, a piece of bad news is in the air, the sequel having been delayed to June 2023.

Through its official Twitter account, the film had noted that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, is now scheduled for release on June 2nd, 2023.

It’s unclear why the release was pushed to June next year, but there are clues, including writer and producer Christopher Miller tweeting about offering the crew more time to create something phenomenal.

With those words, invariably, expectations have inched higher. And whatever the team eventually releases next June will face great scrutiny. Has the delay been worth it?

Sony plans to release two sequels to the Spider-Man series. The recently deferred sequel is the first of the two. The second sequel is expected a year after the first, on March 29th, 2024.

While some fans are okay with the postponement of the first sequel, others are seriously disappointed. But then, as producer Christopher Miller has explained in a tweet, it’s all to give the crew the chance to do a great job.

Those who are upset may have to wait until they actually view what’s promised for the middle of next year. Until then.
