Spotify Takes Down Neil Young’s Music Amid Feud With Joe Rogan

Music streaming platform Spotify has taken down Neil Young’s music from the platform amid Young’s feud with Joe Rogan, who hosts a highly trafficked show on the platform.

Young had objected to one of Joe Rogan’s podcasts, claiming it was spreading misinformation about vaccines.

With an estimated, 11 million listeners per episode, [The Joe Rogan Experience] , which is hosted exclusively on Spotify, is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence. Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy, Young had noted.

He added that he wants the music platform to remove all his music. As far as he’s concerned, Spotify can have Joe Rogan or Young. Not both.

Clearly, Spotify would rather go with Joe Rogan, who hosts one of the biggest podcasts in the world exclusively on the Spotify network. Rogan had signed a $100 million deal with Spotify, which gave the platform exclusive rights to the podcast.

It remains to be seen if Neil Young’s music will still make it back to the platform – and how soon. By the way, reactions to Neil Young’s exit from Spotify have been mixed, with some fans commending him for sticking to principles.
