With “Spotify Wrapped” released, artists around the world know how well or badly they did in terms of streaming numbers. These numbers are significant, as they indicate from which regions around the world a musician’s music is streamed, and how many times.
South Africa is not excluded from “Spotify Wrapped.” Many musicians from the country – but not all – have their numbers. One of them is Makhadzi. The “Ghanama” hitmaker. The songstress had an impressive year, so impressive that she sits at the top.
Yes, according to the stats from Spotify, she is the most streamed South African artist on the platform, beating the likes of Nasty C and Cassper Nyovest.
Makhadzi’s stats are truly impressive, with 23 million streams, 1.5 million listeners, 1.5 million hours, and 183 countries. Makhadzi is not a rapper and certainly not a hip-hop artist. Her command of the English language is pretty weak. But ultimately, this didn’t count for much, as she bested others to snag the top spot in streams.
Aware f the significance of the win, she popped into Instagram, where she shared the stats and celebrated the win – as you can see below.
Of course, her fans were in the comment section to congratulate her, as well as wish her more wins.
