Senzo Meyiwa’s Murder Trial – State Witness Cites Memory Lapse During Cross-examination

State witness in Senzo Meyiwa’s murder trial has cited memory lapse while answering questions during a recent cross-examination.

Years ago, in October 2014, late Bafana Bafana star Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead in his girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo’s home in what the state has called a botched robbery. The trial is still ongoing, and five suspects are being tried for the crime.

Tumelo Madlala, Meyiwa’s childhood friend who was present when he was murdered, returned to the witness stand on Monday for Cross Examination. However, he does not seem to remember many details of what happened on that unfortunate date.

Madlala says, “You have to remember that this incident happened a long time ago, so I must recall some things before responding.” He remembered sighting one of the suspects, Bongani Ntanzi, during the robbery. He said, “And furthermore I would like to add that the suspect on that day, was wearing a jacket with a hoodie, even though I don’t recall the specific colour of the hoodie.”
