American singer Taylor Swift is having a good run and other is no stopping herself. At the Grammys over the weekend, the celebrated singer cemented her place in pop history by winning her fourth album of the year scudetto – the first artist to do so.
of course, that win was profoundly symbolic. But even more symbolic was the wave of expectation she provoked by announcing a new album right there after the album of the year win. It’s like she wanted to rub her win on the faces of those who couldn’t best her in the fiercely competitive category, which also had Beyonce as part of the nominees this year.
During her acceptance speech, the songstress announced that she is releasing a new album dubbed “The Tortured Poets Department” on April 19. Except something should go seriously wrong, leading to a deferment, fans should expect the project on the date given.
On release, the album would likely be submitted for nomination at the next Grammy Awards. Whether it would end up being nominated and winning the Album of the Year category again is unclear. But big surprises are certainly not beyond the singer.
Until then, y’all can wait this out, yeah?
