Sunset at dawn for Emmanuel TV. Well, that seems like it right now, with the recent news that the channel will be terminating its broadcasting services on several platforms, including DStv.
Founded by the late TB Joshua, Emmanuel TV was one of the top Christian broadcasting channels not just in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole. It also reached millions of people across the world with its services.
With TB Joshua’s death, the channel took a hit and started losing traction, indicating that the channel itself was built around the personality of its founder and that people watch the channel because of him.
Broadcasting on the channel was no longer regular and was often replayed to the audience. This continued for a while until the moment of truth, which is that the channel can no longer sustain itself.
The result is the difficult decision to take down the channel. According to multiple reports, not only is Emmanuel TV leaving the DStv universe, but it is also leaving other pay-to-view networks like GOtv.
So far, the reactions to the news have been mixed, with some viewers pointing out that they will miss the channel when it is dropped from DStv and other networks.
