The 2022 Academy Awards may have passed, but everyone will not forget the unscripted situation. It is all the world has been able to talk about since. Comedian, Chris Rock had made a joke about Jada Pinkett’s hair loss, which prompted her husband, Will Smith, to go on stage and slap him.
This all happened during the Live Oscars broadcast. The Academy announced that Smith was banned from attending any of its events for ten years. Smith, while accepting his Best Actor award, tendered an apology to Rock and shared that Denzel Washington had advised him after the saga.
Appearing in a chat with Pastor TD Jakes at the 2022 Int’l Leadership Summit, Washington opened up about the shocking event. He shared that “There’s a saying that when the devil ignores you, then you know you’re doing something wrong.” He also revealed that he was glad that he wasn’t the only one who stepped on, acknowledging Tyler ICU for joining him and praying with them. He also said “I don’t know all the ins-and-outs of the situation, but I know the only solution was prayer.”
