Telkom Unveils Music Streaming App In Partnership With JOOX

Telecommunications services provider Telkom has launched a music streaming app in collaboration with JOOX. The app is currently available on the Google Play Store, as well as on the Huawei AppGallery.

The Telkom music app can be downloaded for free. Music on the app is free as well. However, to unlock more functionality, users would have to fork over R59.99 per month (or, if, like us, you’re irritated by such psychological pricing, R60).

The Telkom music app, which has a size of 10MB, was designed to save data usage as well as space. The app follows just behind Telkom’s video streaming app, TelkomOne

On the launch of the music streaming app, Telkom’s head of smartphone content Wanda Mkhize noted that the app is Telkom’s response to the music streaming ecosystem, which is constantly changing. The key focus is data saving as well as a shared musical experience.

By the way, JOOX is owned by Tencent, whose CEO for Africa, Brett Loubser, speaking on the partnership, noted how excited the company was to get on the partnership with Telkom Mobile.
