In a move that will strengthen the South African Music Awards (SAMA), the organising body for one of South Africa’s most visible awards has just announced a new partnership.
According to the organisers of the SAMAs, the award body has just secured a partnership with Africa Fest, As a result, there is no longer any uncertainty about where the 29th SAMA will be held. With the partnership, a lot has been clarified, including the date and venue for the award.
Now, according to organizers, the 29th South African Music Awards will be held at the SunBet Arena at Time Square, Menlyn Maine in Pretoria.
Previously, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government was the backer of the award and had agreed to host it. However, controversy erupted over the decision, with some criticising the move because, in their opinion, the budget of the provincial government had ballooned as a result of the plan to host the SAMA.
Well, that financial “burden” has been taken off the government now and South Africans can look forward to the next SAMA without any drama. The triumph, ultimately, is not only for the organizers but those who will go home with awards at the end of the day.
