The Weeknd Launches XO Humanitarian Fund With the WFP To Combat World Hunger

The starving around the world may soon get a reprieve as Canadian singer The Weeknd launches an initiative to have them fed.

The songster is working in collaboration with the World Food Program of the United Nations to address the world hunger crisis.

In collaboration with the global body, The Weeknd had launched the XO Humanitarian fund to address the hunger crisis currently rocking the world.

To show how serious he is about the initiative, the Canadian, who was born Abel Tesfaye, made a personal donation of $500k. He also promised to make a donation of $1 for each ticket sold from the North American leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour.

In a press release soon after making his donation, the songster had shared the goal of the initiative, noting that the goal of the fund is to support people who are on the brink of starvation and therefore in desperate need of food.

The WFP President (United States) expressed gratitude that The Weeknd is part of the effort to bring succor to millions around the world through the XO Humanitarian Fund.

By the way, the fund will have a special focus on Ethiopia because The Weeknd is the son of Ethiopian immigrants.
