The film stars some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Academy Award winner Viola Davis, South Star Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Aitim, Hero Fienne Tiffin, and John Boyega. The film was also produced by Davis and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood known for the movie “The Secret Life Of Bees,” “The Old Guard,” and more.
According to Wikipedia, “the film focuses on General Nanisca of the Dahomey Amazons (played by Viola Davis). The Dahomey Amazons were an all-female military regiment of the Kingdom of Dahomey. It also focuses on Nawi (played by Thuso Mbedu), an ambitious recruit.
The film depicts how the Dahomey Amazons “fought enemies who violated their honor, enslaved their people and threatened to destroy everything they have lived for.” An official trailer has been released for the film, and the fans are loving it already.
