Thuli Madonsela Erupts Over Dali Mpofu’s “Unprofessional Conduct” During Parliamentary Inquiry

The battle continues at the legislative inquiry continues as former public prosecutor Thuli Madonsela hit back at the attorney for her embattled successor Busiswe Mkhwebane, who had had her subpoenaed to give testimony.

She was initially reluctant to appear before Parliament’s Section 194 inquiry but was legally compelled to show up. There, she was somewhat apologetic for her initial reluctance, giving reasons why she had not wanted to testify. Thereafter, she had locked horns with Dali Mpofu.

She felt like she was being treated like an accused at the inquiry as the questions thrown at her were of little relevance whether her successor was guilty or not. She described as shocking questions about her place of birth and whether she was an advocate.

She accused Mpofu of bringing to parliament some street slurs that former president Jacob Zuma had used to describe her looks, pointing out that Dali Mpofu had exhibited unprofessionalism with his actions.

She also reminded the advocate that the inquiry was not about her impeachment but the impeachment of his client and her successor as public prosecutor, Busiswe Mkhwebane.

The inquiry was adjourned till next week when Thuli Madonsela is expected to appear again to give oral evidence.
