Thuso Mbedu Wins The Spirit Award For Best Female Performance, See Full List Of Winners

The wins continue for South African actress Thuso Mbedu as she bags the Film Independent Spirit Award in the best female performance for a new scripted series category for her role in The Underground Railroad.

Taking to Instagram soon after her win, she had expressed great excitement, joking that she would need at least five days of sleep to fully appreciate the win and what it means to her.

She thanked the award organizers for making her part of the “brilliant group of people.” She’s humbled by it all. She thanked her colleagues in the popular flick, The Underground Railroad.

While she has a lot of people to thank for her award victory, there’s just space for a few. But she promised to give others their flowers at a later date.

South Africans are just as excited about Thuso Mbedu winning the Film Independent Spirit Award, and they trooped to social media to share their thoughts about her victory.

According to some of them, the victory is not just Thuso Mbedu’s but South Africa’s as well. As far as some of them are concerned, it’s just the beginning for the actress, and she will one day win an Oscar.
