Popular music promoter, Pheko Kgengoe dies of Covid-19.

The entertainment industry is presently in mourning. On Tuesday, 30 June, the shocking demise of popular music promoter, public relations guru and, events manager, Pheko Kgengoe filled social media. A lot of hearts were broken, and they all took to their pages to mourn him.

Pheko reportedly died of COVID-19 leaving behind his wife and child. The PR guru is known to have worked with rap star, Kwesta, and also for launching the careers of several stars including Kabomo. His work with Sony Music basically launched his career.

Sony Music Public Relations representative, Lwazi Zondo gave a teary statement to The Citizen on Tuesday. She revealed the news had saddened her deeply and stated that the industry has lost a PR giant. She also shared how much she learned from him, and how he assisted her while he was alive. Kabomo also made a statement about his death.

Pheko was an amazing guy, I learned everything to do with PR from him. He called every day, every problem I had he help me out. If I had any problem getting celebrity contacts, he would gladly assist me, he would always share.”

It’s so unbelievably sad, I worked so closely with him. I want us to remember him for his bright smile, the joy he brought, one of the happiest people in the world. Because of him, I made it through my first SAMAs and he built the music brand that we now see with Kwesta today.”
