Tshwane’s New Mayor Cilliers Brink Makes Big Promises Going Forward

No elections – and, correspondingly, no new Mayor – for the city of Tshwane. That was the verdict only recently following the resignation of Murunwa Makwarela. But all that appears to be past tense now s the city has managed to get a new mayor in the person of a former member of parliament, Cilliers Brink.

And if reports from the city are to be believed, then Brink has already hit the ground running. The city, which has been stuttering over the absence of a mayor for a while, can now smile in the knowledge that the new Mayor has got a lot planned for the city.

Service delivery is said to be a top priority for brink as the new mayor. Speaking after he was picked as mayor, brink had noted the importance of creating a capital city that works for all, improves the lives of the poor and creates opportunities for all to thrive.

As mayor, he would also be exploring innovative changes to ensure that the city progresses beyond its current station. Of course, it is one thing to make a promise and a different ball game to carry them out. The city of Tshwane will be watching to see what its mayor does from now.
