The career wins continue for South African singer Tyla as s he snags a Soul Train Awards nomination in the Best New Artist category. She is nominated alongside Nigerian singer Ayra Starr and a few others.
The symbolism of that nomination wasn’t lost on the singer, who took to Twitter to celebrate it. She tweeted that she was nominated alongside the likes of Coco Jones, Wanmor, Fridayy, Ayra Starr, Doerechii, Flo and Ambre. She expressed gratitude for the nomination which she ascribed to the support from her fans.

Tyla’s nomination comes amid a couple of other successes, including the superlative numbers being done on Spotify through the song “Water.” It has also earned her public support from notable music figures as well. A win for Tyla is also a win for South Africa.
Not surprisingly, her compatriots are heavily rooting for her. Well, time will tell who eventually goes home with the award.
