Ukhozi Song Of The Year: Controversy As Ngeke Is Declared Winner Over Sete, King Monada’s Song

Each year, Ukhozi FM declares what it calls the song of the year based on the trending songs of the period. 2022 was no different, as the radio station shared its verdict as well, with Big Nuz’s “Ngeke” as the overall winner.

Ukhozi FM’s choice of song of the year is almost always mired in controversy, with peeps noting that for the most part, undeserving artists win the award while deserving ones are overlooked.

That controversy spilt into 2022, after the declaration of “Ngeke” as the overall song of the year. While some social media users agreed with the verdict, others were miffed with it, noting that “SETE,” a song by K.O. featuring Young Stunna, was the actual song of the year given the impact the song made on release = it trended for a long time.

and yet some think that the person who should have won the award is actually King Monada of the “Malwedhe” fame. To each his crowd, apparently. Given the controversies that have plagued the previous announcements of the song of the year, maybe the latest controversy shouldn’t be surprising.

If nothing else, the current division over the choice of the song of the year at least shows that listeners are actually paying attention.
