Umalusi 2022 Matric Results Cleared For Release On 19th January

The Umalusi matric results refer to the results of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, which the Department of Basic Education in South Africa administers. These examinations are taken by students who are in their final year of high school, commonly referred to as “matric” students.

Umalusi is responsible for accrediting the examination centers, ensuring the quality of the assessments, and certifying the results. The results are typically released in January of the following year and are used to determine a student’s eligibility for further education and employment opportunities.

There has been speculations that there would be an extension of the 2022 matric results release date, but that turns out to be false. Dr Mafu Rakometsi, Umalusi CEO declared Monday that the Quality Education Council doesn‘t need to extend the 2022 matric results release date.

Rakometsi expressed that 19th January was the date approved by all parties. He said that news reports regarding an extension had caused concern among scholars.

Rakometsi spoke during Umalusi’s media briefing on quality assessments for the 2022 matric examinations. He noted that the Covid-19 crisis was the cause of the late result.

The knock-on consequences from the disruptions in the 2020 and 2021 academic years forced schools to open late in 2022. As the pandemic directly impacted the 2022 class, the schools had to catch up.

Umalusi has been responsible for the matric results since 2002.
