It appears this is one moment for a difficult goodbye for fans of the popular South African telenovela “Umkhokha: The Curse.” It has just been revealed that the character Ndoda Gumede, played by Wandile Skwata, has been written off the series.
Hee excision from the series has led to mixed reactions from viewers across South Africa. While some of them see nothing wrong in the actor’s exit but simply as part of the evolution of the series, some were displeased with the axing of the character.
“Axing” has nothing to do with disagreement with the producers or fight over wages, though. The spoilers for December indicated that Ndoda may have committed suicide. While the details are not out yet, South Africans would have to content themselves with what the spoiler has revealed, before the real fix.
While it was part of the series, the Ndoda character has a robust following. This obviously explains why some viewers are sad that the character has been axed from the series by making him commit suicide.
But what if he should be brought back again, with the story that the suicide was faked after all? Now that should be something close to a page-turner.
