Unathi Denounces Pastor Over #JohnVuliGateChallenge

A pastor who condemned women for participating in the #JohnVuliGateChallenge has been denounced by the Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi.

Pastor Jadezweni had claimed that women were enticing men by participation in the #JohnVuliGateChallenge spawned by the hit song from the South African group Mapara A Jazz (Ft. Ntosh Gazi and Colano).

#JohnVuliGateChallenge, which encourages women to shake their bums in a fun manner, has long gone international – you might say viral, pushing the hitherto obscure Mapara A Jazz group to the top of the trends in South Africa.

Unathi thinks the pastor erred – actually encouraged genre-based violence (GBV) – by stating that women were enticing men by shaking their derriere to a song they love (“John Vuli Gate”).

Unathi is a known advocate against gender-based violence, so her stance on the pastor’s opinion isn’t surprising. In fact, so far, he thoughts have received massive support from many social media users. You may want to watch the video below.

Well, what do you think of the pastor’s opinion on the song and women shaking their derriere to it, and indeed Unathi’s response to the pastor? You might want to join the conversation by dropping your thoughts in the comment section below.
