After about a 10-month stint at Star 91.9 FM, South African media personality Unathi Nkayi’s contract was not renewed and she had to exit the station.
The media personality had previously worked at Kaya FM and was fired from her role in mid-2022 following a spat with co-host Sizwe Dhlomo. She had reportedly falsely claimed that Sizwe was abusive towards her.
However, CCTV footage found the exact opposite, which confirmed that she was lying. She was kicked out as a result. She found a role at Star 91.9 FM soon after. At the time of her Staar appointment, some tweeps had celebrated with her while others had wondered if she wouldn’t bring similar drama to the station.
Anyway, in a recent post on her verified Instagram page, she had shared a picture of herself and her co-host at Star, noting that this month (February) marks the end of the odyssey as co-host of The All-Star Drive on Star FM. She said they both decided not to extend their contracts.
A look through the comments showed that many of her fans were sad to see her go and they expressed that she would be missed on the network.
Unathi has her eyes on other things now.
