Veteran Actor Eric Nobbs Dead At 68

It has often been said that in life, we are in death and that no one knows when death will intrude. This reality is proven again and again in the material plane as we know it. South African actor Eric Nobbs is dead. He was 68. The thespian died yesterday, Sunday, October 23, reportedly from a heart attack. He was 68.

The actor is thought to have started his acting career back in 1978. In the intervening years, he had featured in several flicks and became famous in South Africa. Among the films he has featured in are Die Byl, where he played the role of a Dr Fritz Barnard through three seasons; and Lui Maar Op Belinda, where he played the role of Frans from seasons 1 to 2.

He also acted in the screen adaptation of Tennessee Williams’s A Street Car Named Desire.

The news of his death has been greeted with shock from many quarters as no one saw it coming. But then, as some of his gans had noted on Twitter, that’s one of the realities of life.

Interestingly, Eric’s death comes about a week after South Africa lost another respected actor Franci Swanepoel, who passed away at just 50. The industry mourns
