Veteran Actor Leslie Phillips Dead At 98

He lived to an age many hope, wish and pray for but may never attain. Celebrated British actor Leslie Phillips, famous for several movies, including the Harry Potter series, died on Monday at the age of 98. He was two years from reaching a century, but life happened.

His agent Jonathan Lloyd confirmed the death the same day, noting that the veteran actor died peacefully in his sleep.

The news of his death reverberated around the world, with fellow stars and those conversant with his works speaking of what a loss his death was and what impact he made before he disappeared from the material plane.

Actor Tony Maudsley shared a picture of them together, noting in the caption that working with Leslie was a pleasure.

Harry Potter Film, writing through its verified Twitter, acknowledged the actor’s passing while noting it is incredibly saddened by the actor’s death.

Leslie Phillips debuted in the acting universe as a boy in the 1930s. He had gone on to play roles in several other movies, ultimately establishing himself as one of the most respected faces in British film. He was conferred with an OBE in 1998. Ten years later, he was promoted to CBE and held to it until his death.
