SABC veteran anchor Sakina Kamwendo had many applauding her handling of an interview with forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan. Tweeps thought she was the ideal journalist, asking no-nonsense questions and forcing the investigator to react.
Just over the weekend, the investigator was allegedly pointed out as a suspect in the leaking of information related to the burglary in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm. The controversy surrounding the farm has prevailed for a while, with many South Africans calling on the president to resign for alleged corruption. In the said burglary, millions of dollars were stolen from mattresses on the president’s farm, but Ramaphosa allegedly failed to report the heist to the police authorities as he should have.
Invited to speak with SABC veteran anchor Sakina Kamwendo on his role in the alleged leaking of information about the burglary, Paul O’Sullivan showed up. During the interview, Sakina had delved into the possibility of his role in leaking the information about the burglary. He appeared to have blown a fuse over the question, asking the anchor whether she was trying to implicate him. He made it clear they would not carry on with the interview if she was taking the angle he suspected she was.
