Video: Check Out NSC 2021 Matric Results

After a brief controversy on whether the National Senior Certificate (NSC) matric results should be published on media platforms or not, peeps who sat for the exam had the chance to hear the results announced.

For many, matric results are stepping stones to the university; for others, it’s just that – a means to little creative jobs while saying money to get into the university.

The NSC matric results for 2021 were announced by the basic education minister Angie Motshekga yesterday, Thursday, January 20. The pass rate was 76.4 percent, which was 0.2 percent higher than that of 2020.

In all, 897 163 students sat down for matric. Of that number, the most passes came from KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. Here is the breakdown of the pass rates.

  • Free State: 85.7%
  • Gauteng: 82.8%
  • Western Cape: 81.2%.
  • North West: 78.2%
  • Kwazulu-Natal: 76.8%
  • Mpumalanga: 73.6%
  • Eastern Cape: 73%
  • Northern Cape: 71.4%
  • Limpopo: 66.7%

Some social media peeps have joked that the results have given Free State students some bragging rights.

Students who didn’t make the pass rate have a chance to seat for the exam again this year. For those who passed, it is like a breath of fresh air – the opening of a door into something new and exciting. Some solidarity.
