Video: Man Dies In Drinking Competition At Local Tavern

Tragedy struck at the Blue Corner Car Wash & Liquor Restaurant in Ha-Mashamba Village near Elim in Limpopo when a man took a bet to drink a whole bottle of Jagermeister for R200.

He drank the entire bottle but collapsed soon after, never to get the R200 for which he had taken a considerable risk.

Developed in 1934 by 1934 by Wilhelm and Curt Mast, Jägermeister is a German digestif made with 60 herbs and spices. It has a high volume alcohol content.

According to police, an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Giving details on what actually happened that Sunday, July 10, 2022, police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo noted that patrons at the local tavern had gotten into a drinking competition.

The rule of the competition was fairly straightforward. Whoever could drink a bottle of Jagermeister within a specified time would get the sum of R200. The dead man had taken the challenge. However, soon after consuming the drink, he collapsed. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. You can check out the clip below.

The incident happened no long after gunmen stormed another tavern and opened fire on patrons, leaving 21 persons dead. Mzansi was yet to recover when another tragedy struck in another pub.
