Zola 7’s fans are chuffed right now as their music hero is bouncing back after a bad spell of bad health and, some claim, poverty.
The kwaito veteran is suffering from epilepsy, which has affected him and his work. And at some point, he was said to be struggling to take care of his medical bills as well as his seven children.
When South Africans found out about his battles, they decided to rally around him to ensure his needs were met and that he continues his life as usual.
Enter Shawn Mkhize, a celebrity and a businesswoman.
She’d let the kwaito veteran enjoy a ride with her in her Bentley, fulfilling one of his life-long dreams. She’d also shared clips and pictures of her and Zola 7 while encouraging her fans to help him recover by making contributions to his welfare.
At the time, some members of the public had lashed out at her for making the music legend grovel before her.
Along the line, some media houses had claimed that the businesswoman made a personal donation of R1 million to the muso. But his personal assistant Siki Kunene dismissed it.
At any rate, Zola has got new plans going forward, including seeing to it that the youths get jobs.
