Vodacom SA Appoints Sitho Mdlalose As New MD, Gets Justice For Vandalized Towers

Telecoms service provider Vodacom SA has appointed Sitho Mdlalose as the new managing director (MD) amid the planned exit of the current MD, Balesh Sharma.

The appointment of Mdlalose, who’s currently managing director of Vodacom Tanzania, will take effect on July 1.

As the new MD, he will join the Vodacom Group’s executive committee and will report directly to the Vodacom Group CEO, Shameel Joosub.

On Sitho’s appointment, the Vodacom Group rolled out some of his key attributes, including being a business leader with over 20 years experience in finance, consulting and management in both emerging and developed markets.

Joosub expressed great faith in Sitho’s ability to take Vodacom South Africa to new heights. He ended up offering his personal congratulations to the new MD.

By the way, the Vodacom Group also recorded another triumph after Patrick Chirambandare, 34, Washington Khoza, 32, and Cliff Hove, 28, were sentenced to 30 years in prison each for damaging infrastructure belonging to Vodacom and stealing from others.

The National Prosecuting Authority’s Leon Ehlers argued that the Bethulie regional court should impose Harsher sentences on the accused because their crime seriously affected South Africans.

Infrastructure vandalism is pretty come in South Africa, and the authorities have adopted harsher measures to stem it.
