Vusi Thembekwayo Addresses His Wife’s GBV Claims In New Statement

Vusi Thembekwayo has reacted to claims by his wife that he abused her, insisting it was all lies and that he’s innocent.

A recent report by the Sunday World had claimed that Vusi Thembekwayo, had abused his wife on December 4.

However, in a tweet two days ago, on December 11, Vusi claimed that he had flown back to South Africa on December 6 from an international trip to address what he calls his wife’s longstanding battle with substance abuse.

He maintains he’s innocent, insisting that he would prove that in the appropriate forum. You can check out his statement below.

It has come to my attention that media tabloids have shared the news that myself and my family are currently going through a difficult period. As noted on a retweet, I have been off my social media accounts for a week dealing with a difficult private family matter that requires my urgent attention.

To address the news first-hand, I can confirm that I flew back to South Africa on 6 December 2021 from an international trip to attend to a situation pertaining to my wife and her longstanding battle with substance abuse. Her response has been unfortunate and resulted in alleged charges of assault against me. The matter appeared in court this week and has been remanded and is being defended. At all times, I have cooperated with law enforcement to resolve this matter courteously and expeditiously.

As it stands, I maintain my innocence and will prove this in the appropriate forum and trust the Justice Department to deal with it accordingly. I have always been an advocate of equality, committed to eradicating all forms of GBV and I believe my record speaks for itself in this regard.

I must state that I have consistently maintained my family and personal life as a matter of privacy, and never sought to make a public spectacle of my family and subsequently ensured that it be kept separate from my career. I will be continuing with the same approach in dealing with the matter as far as possible, particularly to safeguard my children.

I ask for your understanding and support in this regard.

However, some social media users are convinced that the millionaire entrepreneur is not telling the truth – or telling half-truth t best. They insisted that he exposed his guilty by alleging that his wife abuses substances. Some insist that the authorities should investigate the situation and act accordingly.Vusi Thembekwayo Addresses His Wife'S Gbv Claims In New Statement 2Vusi Thembekwayo Addresses His Wife'S Gbv Claims In New Statement 3Vusi Thembekwayo Addresses His Wife'S Gbv Claims In New Statement 4

By the way, gender-based violence (GBV) is a very serious issue in South Africa. In fact, South Africa has one of the highest cases of GBV in the world. Also, interestingly, women are more likely to be believed in GBV cases.

It remains to be seen what direction the case will take. Stay tuned for more updates.
