Warner Music Announces $100M Donation To the Cause Of Social Justice In America

The fight for social justice in America is gaining momentum, thanks to the efforts of some famous figures, including the Canadian singer and record producer The Weeknd.

The songster has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars and called on others to do the same. To him, no sum is too small. Just donate what you have. His appeal has not gone unheeded. Other artistes are beginning to make donations, Drake among them.

It would gladden the hearts of many to know that Warner Music has just joined the list of donors in the fight against social injustice, a subject that regained international resonance following the killing of George Floyd by the cop Derek Chauvin.

In a recent statement, Warner Music Group’s CEO Steve Cooper announced a $10-million dollar donation to the cause of justice and the promotion of diversity and equality in the music industry and across America.

The statement reads in part: “This fund will support the extraordinary, dedicated organizations that are on the front lines of the fight against racism and injustice, and that help those in need across the music industry.

Will other organizations stand up to be counted at a time like this? A time when race relations, injustice and police brutality have are grabbing headlines? The coming days should reveal a lot and ultimately determines if the races return to the table of brotherhood.
