Video: AKA Loses Sneakers During Live Performance In Malawi

Crowd surfing is one way musicians bond with their fans and show that they are also human after all, with some warmth. However, it rarely ends well for most musicians as they are usually mobbed and their stuff stolen.

And that was precisely the case with Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, the South African rapper who goes by the stage name AKA, during a recent performance in Malawi.

Halfway through his performance, the songster hopped into the crowd. It turned out to be a big mistake, as his pricey sneaker and (reportedly) expensive watch were yanked from his feet and wrist.

In a clip that has since gone viral, AKA could be heard shouting into the microphone for his fans not to take his sneakers. But the fans were not ready to listen to him. They took what they wanted before the security men on duty managed to bring him back to the safety of the stage.

But the havoc had already been done. You can check out the clip below.

This isn’t the first time AKA’s crowd surfing adventure had gone wrong, however. Back in 2020, while performing in Rustenburg, he’d jumped into the crowd, but they failed to pick him up. In a tweet later, he’d joked about the incident.
