The world of soul stood still over the weekend when Soul singers, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott battled it out on Instagram live. We can hardly call it a battle because the two iconic singers just had fun with the music and each other.

It became the first ever female verzuz battle and the longest to date. The show was initially scheduled to begin at 7pm but started at 7:20pm due to technical issues. The two artists seemed to just love the thrill of singing through their catalogue with each other. The show went on uninterupted for a whopping three hours and drew a billion impressions.

It was also viewed by some big names including Michelle Obama, Spike Lee, and Quincy Jones. Jill delivered her classics “He Loves Me”, “Getting In The Way”, and more, while Erykah dished “Tyrone”, “Bag Lady” and lots more. It was a battle to remember. Shoutout to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland for putting it together. In case you missed it, check it out below.
