Watch Murdah Bongz Reflect On 1 Year As Solo Artist

It seems just like yesterday that South African DJ and singer Murdah Bongz started his solo career, but a year has actually passed since then. And in that period, he has done well for himself, including releasing an album named after his daughter, Asante.

In an industry plagued by uncertainty, one year in the saddle as a solo artist is no joke. The songster himself recognises this, which is why no one can begrudge taking a reflective break on his journey so far.

Murdah Bongs was previously part of the two-man collective called Black Motion (the other member being Thabo Smol), but the group split after an initial denial of their separation. Then came public drama, with Murdah Bongz allegedly removing equipment belonging to the group from their shared apartment.

He was taken to court and forced to return some of the equipment he “stole” from Black Motion’s studio. His wife, DJ Zinhle, was blamed for the band’s split and continues to be blamed. She laughs at claims of her involvement each time.

Anyway, it’s been a year as a solo artist for Murdah Bongz and he has adopted a new stage name Morda). You can check out the muso reflecting on his one-year journey in the clip below.
