Watch President Ramaphosa Speak On Plans To Address Load Shedding

South Africans who have been frustrated by load shedding in the country have reason to smile as President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced plans to end it.

Load shedding is one of the vexed issues in South Africa at the moment and one of the reasons some South Africans are clamouring for the president’s resignation.

The words of protests have gotten to the president’s ears, and South Africans might have a new lease of life without the energy crisis after all. The president had reportedly had consultations within the government, as well as with stakeholders. And now, there’s a roadmap to a collective solution.

The president’s plan to address load shedding incorporates several strategies, including recruiting skilled workers at Eskom and addressing theft and sabotage at the utility company.

Also, it will allow Eskom to buy excess power from private producers, import power from countries in the region, as well as implement programmes to incentivise the efficient use of power. There’s also a plan to address Eskom’s debt before October.

Well, it will be interesting to see whether things will go according to plan and if South Africans will be done with the spectre of load shedding once and for all.
