Watch ProVerb & Stogie T’s Rap Battle

The United States has its Verzuz battle, an initiative that sees rappers shoot bars at each other until one of them triumphs. Apparently, South Africa has recorded something similar. Only, it wasn’t pronounced back then.

But with an old video of Stogie T and ProVerb’s rap battle resurfacing, Mzansi has been screaming for something like that from other artistes.

In the video, it appeared like ProVerb beat Tumi Molekane. But that’s actually subjective. You can check out the old video below.

ProVerb and Stogie are among South Africa’s most respected aces. They are both veterans and have contributed massively to the growth of the culture. At the moment, ProVerb combines work as a member of the South African Musical Rights Organization (SAMRO0 with a hosting gig on Idols SA.

For his part, Stogie T has managed to remain in the consciousness of the public with his sporadic releases. He recently released a jam titled “Mama Say” with which he addressed his conflict with culture critic Nota Baloyi.

Well, it remains to be seen whether other rappers will follow the ProVerb and Stogie T example by engaging in rap battles. We think that would be much healthier than throwing punches in a ring.
