“We will not radio edit our pain” – Msaki On “Radio Edit”

Radio edits are nothing new ― not in South Africa and not in a musically developed country. But then radio edits, which are best described as the formatting of songs to make them suitable for radio, are especially common in South Africa.

While some artists are okay with the editing of their songs to make them suitable for radio, there are others who are opposed to any editing. They’re determined their songs should be used as is ― or not used at all.

One such artist is “Fetch Your Life” star Msaki. In a note posted to Instagram, she stated that compilers and those who work in radio stations and are interested in using her works should mail her and she would reply with the requested works.

She also made it clear that radio can’t edit her laments, pain, anger, confusion, disillusionment, distress, and… see the full list below.

In a video emphasizing the same message, she urged radio stations to leave her songs alone if the songs don’t fit their format. You can check out the video right here.
