Apparently the person who blew the lid on the fraud case involving Dr Tumi was unaware the celebrated gospel musician and medical doctor was involved.
Billy Simamane had reported the case to the police but had no clue Dr Tumi was involved in it. He also admitted he had neither met nor interacted with the songster, whose birth name is Tumisang Victor Makweya, previously.
He had reportedly opened the case in 2019. But it wasn’t until two years later that the public became aware of the seamy details of the case.
Dr Tumi was arrested alongside his wife for defrauding the National Lotteries Board of about R1.5 in collaboration with some accomplices. He and his wife Sara Makweya had reportedly received about 760k from the said sum.
They, alongside the alleged accomplices, were released on bail. After a brief silence following his arrest, Dr Tumi had issued a statement on Twitter stating the case is in court and he would rather allow the court process continue. He thanked those who had supported him amid the fraud allegations.
One notable figure who has been supporting Dr Tumi is media personality Khaya Mthethwa. Khaya has been massively criticized for supporting the embattled musician at this time.
