The Miss Universe 2023 pageant came to an end on Saturday night, and Miss USA R’Bonney Gabriel emerged as the winner. She received the “Force For Good” tiara, which is valued at $5.2 million, at the end of the 71st edition of the Annual beauty pageant.
The pageant was headed by Thai Billionaire Anne Jakaphong Jakrajutatip, a transgender woman, and was held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The new Miss Universe, R’Bonney Gabriel’s crowning, has led to much controversy on social media. There have been accusations of favoritism made against the owner of the pageant, Anne, whose company also owns Miss USA.
However, here’s all you should know about the new Miss Universe. With her crowning, Gabriel now replaces Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu, the 2021 winner. Although the pageant was held in 2023, Gabriel is recognized as the 2022 winner because it was moved to avoid clashing with the 2022 World Cup.
Gabriel is 28 years old. She was born in San Antonio, Texas. She became the first woman of Filipino descent to win Miss USA. She earned a degree in fashion design and graduated in 2018. She now reigns as the 2022 Miss Universe.
