Who Killed Senzo Meyiwa? Defence Rubbishes State Witness’s Claims In Latest Sitting
There appears to be no end in sight in the whole drama surrounding the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial. with a lawyer for one of the accused punching holes in the claims by a policeman who alleged that Mthobisi Prince Mncube was celebrating the late goalie’s death soon after it was made public.
Senzo Meyiwa was murdered in the family home of his then-girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo. She, her sister Znadi and their mother, among others, were reportedly present when the murder took place.
At first, it was alleged that the former Bafana Bafana goalie was a victim of a robbery gone wrong, which was soon dismissed, with evidence pointing to it being a premeditated murder.
The case has been dragging on since. With the previous judge, Maumela, suspended by {President Cyril Ramaphosa, another judge was appointed and a retrial of the case was agreed upon. All the accused in the case have pleaded not guilty so far.
In a new turn of events, the defence for alleged triggerman Mthobisi Prince Mncube dismissed claims by Const Sizwe Skhumbuzo Zungu, who claimed that he had seen Mncube at the Vosloorus Hostel alongside the other accused on the n right of the murder. The claim was nothing more than “hogwash,” according to the lawyer.
